Twenty New Beginnings

Wow, can you believe it?  I’m starting my 20th year teaching here at RVA.  Time flies like an arrow.  Fruit flies like bananas.  (Wow that’s an old joke.)

First day of school photo, like all my students

Today is the first day of school.  I’m teaching the same classes I’ve taught for the past couple of years, Math 7, Study Skills, Study Hall, Homeroom, and I’m still the Jr. High Administrator.  I’m still coaching football (soccer), practices begin tomorrow for that.  Jr. High ROCK (our Sunday evening youth group time) went well yesterday.  I have 23 Juniors and Seniors who have volunteered to give up their youth group time to come and be a part of the lives of the Jr. High kids.

July and August has been a time of rest.  It’s been nice to get a bit of a break.  The weather cleared up, the rain stopped, and I was able to get into my hammock a bit, finish reading a couple of books (novel style books, not educational style books) watch the World Cup, and just relax.  Now it’s back to full steam ahead.

Teaser — I’ll have an announcement about my future plans at some point, probably in October or November, so keep tuned.  No spoilers yet.

Here’s a couple of things to lift before His throne:

  1.  Pray for last year’s Senior class.  Many are beginning college in that strange country called their “Home Country”,
  2. Pray for this years Seniors, as they begin the “year of lasts” , last year in Kenya.
  3. Pray for me as I make some decisions about my future plans.
